It is the humble recognition that what lies inside us is revealed only through direct contact with experience, though we often have it reversed.
We imagine our genius is something to be earned through effort, or that it will appear on its own. In truth, it is a gift of grace that comes when we set aside all we know and think we know, all we want and demand of ourselves and of life, all the ideas of who we should be or what this experience should make us. Stripped bare of these coverings, we meet our genius soul to soul, and the lights come on.
