Being Sensitive in an Insensitive World

What our Erotic selves most yearn for is a connection between meaning and aliveness, the union of which “turns on the lights,” illuminating us from within.

It also gives us a dimmer switch so that wherever we go, we can match the lighting. We need not impose our concept of what should or should not be revealed. We appreciate life on life’s terms. Eros’s desire for us is that we see in the darkness and understand the beauty there and that we stand in the illuminating spotlight of vision to be revealed.

This is what Eros desires from us. This will be how we love in the world; revealed, naked, and transparent, where the onus is on us to uncover the divinity in all forms. Not to go where they are ready-made and not demand that they show themselves.

All prior practice is to live in this nakedness, the equal development of humility and resilience. In fact, we cannot love until we have realized both aspects. And what we cannot love, we cannot heal.

This is the process: to love the whole of life into its highest self until it reveals as God.

Without resilience, we feel at the mercy of. We cannot penetrate the illusion.

Without nakedness, we feel superior to. We cannot enter into intimacy.

And yet, it will take courage, as this world is not, as yet, built for this. We are to become highly sensitive in an insensitive world, and deeply resilient in a world that in order to get relief demands a negation of self.

It requires the discovery of love as power and not platitude.

More Musings

The Age of Eros is a manifesto, a guide, to the coming of an era. This is a woman’s way.
