What Would You Have to Believe? Bianca Censori Part II

After reading and replying to many of the comments from yesterday’s spirited conversation about my post on Bianca Censori, here is an initial digest of my thoughts:

A real player plays with the fixed perceptions that bind people. There are certain ideas that are unwaveringly predictable at certain times in history:

• Women are victims.
• Women aren’t sexually assertive.
• Men make women do things.
• Sexual women have trauma.
• Sex is meant to be hidden—if it’s not, it’s dangerous.
• If that doesn’t force a person to comply with your view, mention the children. Always the children!
• That there is such a thing as a narcissist and that the world isn’t just full of people trying to get their needs met—some more skillfully than others.
• That there is really a sinister narrative, and if you don’t uncover it, you are either a fool or part of it.

The three biggest fears that people have are that they will be taken advantage of, made a fool of, or exiled. The folks who want you to believe that the fixed perceptions are real play on those three fears.

“You’ll see! She didn’t really have agency; she was being forced!”

“You’ll see! she is going to get an STD!”

“If you don’t believe this fixed idea, people will violate you. You are endorsing violation.”

There is a cartel of sorts that enforces the fundamental notion that women are asexual and that men are hypersexual. It’s made up of both men and women interested in extorting people. You exchange your freedom for protection from the above three fears.

A real player—meaning someone who is interested in breaking people out of mental slavery—presses the very buttons of built-in conceptions to get a “rise.” They aim for that rise because it moves people out of their static, fixed way of thinking. It opens the possibility for a different view.

Some great question are always:

“What would you have to believe about women to believe that?”

“What would you have to believe about men?”

“What would you have to believe about sexuality?”

Most often, the answers boil down to the cartel-driven narrative:

• Women are helpess and powerless subjects of men.
• Men are only out for themselves.
• Sex is not sacred unless it is hidden (and often even then) and is harmful if viewed in public.

The most powerful questions you can ask if you want to be free of the fundamental ties that bind—and in our culture, those ties are around sexuality and power—are:

• What do you mean, and how do you know?
• Is that true, and is it true for women?
• Has this always been the case? (Anyone who looks at ancient history knows that women were the ruling class and sexual, and that sexuality was a sacred art.)
• How am I espousing X (power, for example) when my view is actually Y (disabling, for example)?

A great way to know that the program in you is being triggered is that you feel two things:

1. The other person is an insufferable idiot.
2. You must get out of connection.

When you feel provoked, ask yourself if someone is pushing your buttons deliberately, which buttons, and why.

Being triggered is great!

It shows you where you have unexamined beliefs that you can get free of. Some of the great provocateurs of our times are considered mere idiots by most. Those who consider them idiots are controlled by those beliefs.
