The Sweet Spot Between Hunger & Fear

There’s a sweet spot—a place between hunger and fear—that we’re always chasing and always avoiding. Our most powerful memories often come from this space.

But we forget: even in those moments of aliveness, part of us was trying to lock it down, make it last, end the freshness. That tension is part of the experience.

The path of Eros is learning to live from that sweet spot. To make it our home.

This space isn’t about knowing—it’s about not knowing. A fresh, unmarked mind that can fully receive what’s happening now, without filters from the past: no confusion, no doubt, no pull from old memories.

This isn’t just a feeling—it can be a way of living. A home operating system. You can shift out of rational thinking and live from this mind. The rational mind becomes just one part of a bigger intelligence—not the whole thing.

Sometimes, we choose to leave the experience of newness. That’s okay. It often feels like relief, like grounding. We follow the pull of hunger more than fear, and that moves us forward.

The moment becomes more saturated, more colored. It’s no longer pure; now we see it as good or bad, wanted or unwanted. This brings a mix of relief and loss. Things feel more stable, but less open. That original spaciousness is harder to access.

We can still return to it, but it takes effort now. The pull of the world—of labels, reactions, and emotions—grows stronger. If we don’t notice this shift, we get pulled further out.

Experiences start forming stories and emotions:I like this, I hate that. Sadness, joy, anger arise—and they feel real. Dense. They start to control us. But really, they’re just clusters of energy we’ve collected and given meaning to.

That sweet spot is delicate. It’s where we can still choose. Where we feel the stretch between presence and pull. It’s where we touch the force of Eros most clearly, and where we get to decide: collapse into old stories, or stay open to what’s truly here.

More Musings

The Age of Eros is a manifesto, a guide, to the coming of an era. This is a woman’s way.
