Our Relationship with Anticipation

In a goal-oriented world, the experience of anticipation is akin to torture.

In Eros, anticipation is increasing erotic potential that allows us to expand and savor.

We begin with “having.” The tension arises from wanting while already perceiving the moment as good. We build from satisfaction, not lack.

We haven’t been trained to skillfully want. We’re used to numbing sensation instead of letting desire build and bloom.

Consumption blots out discomfort, but we don’t savor. We hunger, consume, receive, and rush back to hunger— skipping the richness of true fulfillment.

In Eros, we savor anticipation. We find beauty in the gap between having and wanting—a space of bitter and sweet, pleasure and pain, inviting us into deeper consciousness.

Anticipation grows us. It’s not about closing the gap, but thriving in it. What we truly desire is the dynamic aliveness found in this middle place.

More Musings

The Age of Eros is a manifesto, a guide, to the coming of an era. This is a woman’s way.
