The rumination or obsession that blocked or controlled the attention now works for it. This is the equation: Build a faculty of attention more powerful than any condition and you become free to choose your outlook.
The people we consider heroes who could miraculously control their attention, both depth and focus, were able to do so because they had tapped into that pure, uncorrupted drive. What OM does is to take the random, seemingly God-given capacity for resilience and genius and makes it accessible in a reliable, repeatable way.
