When we are considering who we choose to allow into our inner sanctum, we are looking for a perfect match in the catch-and-throw that is communication. Communication is everything we do, are, and say with another person. We first note who we feel called to be for them, because one of the greatest gifts another person can give us is inspiration for greatness.
When we sense ourselves in reference to them, we find something called forth that has otherwise remained latent or hidden. We feel compelled to cultivate and shape this with great care, and then to share this with a relaxed sense that it will be received with the same care we put into its creation.
Reception is demonstrated by a quick and immediate acknowledgment, then a period of connected silence, where others allow themselves to take in, be moved by, shifted by, impacted by, and changed by our offering. From here, they go through their own process of allowing this to inspire and awaken the best in themselves—to respond in an overt form with matched consideration, weight, and offering of themselves. If this is the nature of the relationship, we are dealing in the highest currency of relating—we inspire and are inspired by those we relate with. We would do well to continuously and creatively explore ways to access more resources to offer. This relationship, being generative, is a realization of the path where the meeting of basic needs elevates to art. We become who we have always wanted to be, perhaps even beyond who we could imagine or what others imagined for us, simply by doing what we love most: loving.
We will have other relationships to fulfill the needs and desires of our humanity, including knowing the various experiences of this life, such as having substandard relationships. We will encounter people who do not meet us in a few of the previously mentioned areas, or perhaps any of them. But because of this relationship, those others will not just be possible, but enjoyable. To love one—or a few—with the whole of our heart makes it possible to love all others.
