A new groundbreaking study analyzing over 1,500 journal entries from Orgasmic Meditation (OM) practitioners and my own personal OM journals from 2003 and 2012, suggests that the practice elicits profound mystical experiences.
With previous research highlighting the potential of psychedelic experiences to induce mystical states, this study explores whether OM can similarly evoke the mystical state. The findings provide insight into OM as a potential pathway to the mystical state revealing core themes:
Ineffability & Unity
Practitioners describe sensations so profound they defy language. Many report a deep, unshakable connection to everything around them, dissolving boundaries between self and universe.
Timelessness
OM can alter the perception of time—some moments feel eternal. Participants often describe a weightless, suspended state outside normal time constraints.
Sacredness
The practice is often described as reverent or divine. Participants feel as if they’ve tapped into a higher consciousness, experiencing a profound sense of spiritual significance.
Altered Perception
Sensory awareness intensifies—colors, sounds, and touch become more vivid. Some practitioners experience visionary states, feeling transported beyond their physical surroundings.
Flow & Surrender
Many describe feeling guided by an unseen force, as if surrendering to a flow greater than themselves. This loss of control leads to a deeper connection with the experience.
These findings suggest OM provides a structured and repeatable way to access mystical states.
