A Woman Uncompromising in Her Art

I once heard the definition of a Diva is a woman so uncompromising in her art that others must rise to the level of that art or leave. It’s a woman who asks of others what she asks of herself. The “greats” are defined by the space they inhabit and the excellence produced inside that space.  They call on the best of any who would be in that space. 

In gender communications surveys, women who speak the same amount as men are seen as speaking 50 per cent more. In other words, the perception of a woman taking up equal space is that she is taking more than her share. 

The same is true when she dare explore her desire, her expression, her power on the same terms as men. Normal is perceived as too much, pushy, bossy, demanding, greedy, lusty. 

Don’t buy it.  Sit in your seat, without shrinking or adjusting, proving or getting frustrated,  until the people around you adjust. Just sit where you are and slowly the dust will clear from their eyes and the value of what you offer will be clear. 

Eros shows us what is possible, it sets the bar for excellence.  Rise to that level and do not deviate or settle not one bit. The call on our life is to respond with exacting fidelity to the creative demand in our souls.
